"Look at me- just breathe, okay?"

Those were the words you despised to hear and hoping that you won't be hearing soon enough.

Those were the words that your soulmate will last say to you before they disappear from your life.

Will they die? No one knows.

It was just proven that the words visible behind your eyelids are the words to be uttered before the latter's disappearance.

Life is full of words.

Each person has them.

The words that were written on your wrist, to be uttered by your soulmate on your first meeting.

And the words that were only visible to you, placed behind your eyelids. The choice on whether you tell them or not, relies to you.

~

Meeting him was the peak of your life as a human being.

It felt so fulfilling, beyond reality, out of reach, thinking that it's way out of your league.

The words written on your wrist,

"I'm disgusted"

Uttered by the one and only Rivaille Ackerman and for you to reply the words that lay on his wrist.

"Your expression shows that"

That happening occurred when you moved into your new apartment, suggested by your friend that knows someone needing a roommate.

When you arrived at the said flat, it was tidy.

When you settled at the said flat, it was not tidy. It was filled with several boxes.

The door opened and your attention briefly followed, seeing a medium built man. Uneven with his standing posture with his arms crossed.

You couldn't help but stare at the person with the expression that was really displeased until he uttered those words.

"I'm disgusted."

You chuckled, unbeknownst to you of the happening, and uttered those words.

"Your expression shows that."

The said guy looked neutral while looking at you and then to his wrist, somehow effortlessly and seemingly bored, looking down to your wrists that both had leather bracelets wrapped around them.

He didn't utter anything else, he walked towards a room inside the apartment and closed the door. You shrugged it off and started to carry the boxes to your room and unpacked some things.

Finally given the chance to finish, all that's left are final touches. You decided to take a shower.

You took your toiletries and walked out the room. Once you stepped out the room, you saw your roommate sitting on the kitchen stool across of your standing figure. He was having tea while holding the cup in a peculiar way.

He looked at you, you smiled at him and walked to where you think the bathroom is located.

While arriving at the bathroom, you took off your clothes and pieces of jewelry.

After your shower, you returned to your room. You thought of something, despite of the gender of your roommate, the apartment looked so clean.

You headed to the kitchen to make dinner for the two of you, so you can get acquainted with each other.

While reaching up the cupboards, you noticed that your hands feel light.

Your bracelets!

You forgot your bracelets on the bathroom sink. You turned around only to see your roommate standing.

"I made dinner for the both of us, it'll be ready soon." You stated,

"These are yours, aren't they?" He said, reaching out with his palm open. Lies there was the bracelets you were to get.

"Oh, thanks! I was about to get them." You took them and wore it.

"Does that have a sentimental value that you wear it even at home?" He said, probably asking, you couldn't tell through his tone.

"It keeps me from looking at the words that my soulmate is going to utter when we meet. I don't even know what it states anymore." You chuckled to yourself as you continued to make dinner,

"It's saddening, you know? The people around desperate to meet their soulmates. Thirsty for the words written on their wrists to be uttered. What if they never meet their soulmates? Forcing themselves to someone they aren't destined to be with." You continued,

"I'm going to act like I care. You wasted saliva for your pessimistic statement." He replied,

"I'm not a pessimist! I face life in a realistic manner.

"People forcing themselves to someone they aren't destined to be with, huh?"

Once dinner was done. You both sat at the counter.

"So! I'm [Full Name]. I did not put any poison in the food. If it tastes bad, blame it on my amateur cooking skills." You smiled at his direction,

"Levi Ackerman." He stated, not lifting up a utensil. Boy was he friendly.

"Nice to finally meet you, Levi!" You smiled as you took a spoonful of what you made. "Mhm! Tasted better than I expected." You gazed at Levi, who was still not eating his food. "You don't trust me, huh? Can't blame you, though."

You were about to bite off of the food until he spoke, "I was checking if you would die."

"Do you want to exchange plates?" You suggest, he didn't answer. You switched the both of your plates and gave him another smile, although a bit awkwardly.

You took a bite off the new platter of food that you obtained, you swallowed, and drank some water.

"You didn't die." He said,

"Yeah. I didn't." A bit saddened, you stated as your head is down, "If you don't want to eat it, it's fine. Sorry if I wasted the ingredients on the fridge. I'll restock it soon enough."

You didn't look up until you heard utensils being moved, he was chewing the food you made.

You lightened up a bit, "So! How was it?"

"You didn't lie about you being average."

"There's nothing to lie about, really." You continued your silent meal. He finished first and retreated to his room. You soon after cleaned up the utensils and retreated to your own, messy, room.

The next day, you woke up a bit early and went out of your room with your mug and choice of beverage in powdered form waiting for the water to be added.

The kitchen, once again, across from your view. Levi was there having another cup of something. You walked towards the kitchen to make hot water for you chosen beverage to be complete.

As you were to heat your water in the household
peculator Levi spoke,

"I have excess water in this cup and bread."

"What?"

"I won't to repeat myself."

"Okay...?"

You complied with his instructions and sat with him, despite his demeanor you stroke up a conversation with him,

"So... What do you do for a living?"

"Breathe."

"I didn't ask on what you do to live. I meant work, daily routines, whatever."

"Point given. I work somewhere."

"I won't ask where that somewhere is for the best of me."

"Good choice."

He continued sipping his beverage while you mixed your beverage.

"If you don't mind me asking. Have you met your soulmate?"

Levi's eyes widened the slightest, unseen by the naked eye.

"I'm surprised you asked. And last night you said you didn't like the concept of soulmates."

"I never said that! Man, your soulmate must have it hard." You say as you sip on your beverage and stirring again after. "Again with my question. Your relationship status?"

"Why are you interested?"

"Well, you're my roommate or rather flatmate/apartment-mate or whatever you call it. I want to know more about you." Silence engaged the scene.

"Sorry, if I asked. I guess it was a touchy topic. You don't have to answer, Levi." You were feeling a bit awkward. 'What if he thought that I was too clingy to him? Ugh, I'm a mess.' You thought,

"I have a girlfriend."

You looked at him. He answered? It looked so not suiting of him.

"I'm guessing you don't know if you have met yours, huh?" He said,

"Yep. I highly doubt that we've met already."

He hummed and stood up, went to his room and went out.

"Where're you going?" You asked,

"I told you, I have work somewhere."

"Oh, see you soon." You say, now alone with silence.

You sighed, "Good for him. He found his soulmate already." You laughed and thought, 'Am I the only person that hasn't met their soulmate yet?'

~

Time seemed to fly by, you found a decent job. You gained friends from around the area, and made friends with the emotionless man that lives with you.

One day, the sound of the doorbell came ringing. You weren't expecting any visitors, dues for the bills don't come until the end of the month.

You unlocked the door and saw a red-headed girl with medium length hair, she was pretty.

"May I help you?" You asked,

"Is Levi around?" She asked,

"Y-Yes! Come in!"

"Thank you."

You lead her to the living room and knocked on Levi's room, "Hey, Levi? Someone's here for you." You heard him grumble and mentioned something about 5 minutes.

You went to the living room, "Do you want anything to drink? Juice, coffee?"

"I would have juice, if you don't mind."

"Of course!" You went to make the requested beverage, once finished you gave it to her. She thanked you and you sat with her,

"I'm [Full Name]. Levi's roommate or flatmate! Are you his girlfriend?" The girl smiled and nodded,

"Petra Ral. Nice to finally meet you. He mentioned about a roommate moving in."

'Wow, so this is Levi's soulmate. Boy, Levi's so lucky. She looks so sweet.' You couldn't help but stare at her in awe, she seemed to notice.

"Is something wrong?"

"N-no! You're just so pretty..." Your voice trailing off. She smiled again and stated, "You look good as well! Your soulmate must be really a charmer to make you fall for them."

You sighed, "If I've been given the chance to actually meet them, that would be a charmer."

"You haven't meet yours?"

"Yeah, sad to say." Her eyes trailed down your wrists that were covered with leather bracelets,

"Why do you cover it? The words, I mean." She asked,

"Well... I don't want to get occupied by it. I might become depressed if I don't meet them." She touched the hand where the words are located,

"You two will meet. What is the sense of soulmate if you won't meet? Now let me see it." You took it off and showed it to her with you turning away, eyes closed, to not see the words you have long forgotten.

You heard someone hum. It was Levi near Petra also gazing at your wrist.

"Your soulmate has a heck of a way to show their affection to you." Petra smiled as she placed the bracelet back to where it is, "Shall we go, Levi?"

"I was just waiting for your girl talk to finish." He said as he went towards the door.

"Bye, darling!" Petra said after giving your hand a final touch.

'Soulmates, huh?'

You went to take a bubble bath, you looked at your wrists. For the first time in whatever.

You couldn't recall when was the last time you saw those words.

On your wrist.

Lay the words,

"I'm disgusted."

You laughed to yourself at the words you soulmate was suppose to say when you first meet.

You closed your eyes at the possible ways that you and your soulmate will meet.

You shot your eyes open.

You have met your soulmate.

"Levi."

Impossible, he has a girlfriend.

"People forcing themselves to someone they aren't destined to be with, huh?"

You recalled the statement he gave when you gave your heartfelt speech, the first time the two of you came in contact with a full conversation.

What if it's only a coincidence?

A mere coincidence.

Coincidence.

Let's keep it that way.

That night, around midnight, you couldn't sleep. You were staring at your wrist. Bracelet-free. The words, visible.

"We'll never know."

You heard a door opening and a loud thud with matching silent cusses from outside your room. Footsteps and then silence.

You opened your door, to see a wasted Levi.

He was sat on the couch, with his arms spread. It looks like he was getting a breather. You went to get him a glass of water and neared him.

He accepted the water and drank from it. You took the glass when he finished,

You couldn't help but steal a glance on his wrist.

"Your expression shows that"

It all made sense.

"H-how was your day, Levi?"

"Fine. Petra talked about marriage, engagement shit or something. I didn't pay much attention."

"Oh! The both of you will get married? At the church?" You tried your best to sound excited.

"A civil marriage."

"I see. You smell of alcohol. I'll sleep first then. Night."

"Yeah."

You locked the door of your room. You slowly slid down the door and couldn't stop the tears from flowing.

Heartbreak's a bitch.

~

You were invited to the civil wedding that consist of Petra and Levi. It was a few days from now, you acted as if it didn't affect you.

But today you just weren't feeling like faking it.

It came to the point you were crying and hyperventilated because of the overflowing of the emotions.

Even if Levi was there, you couldn't stop.

"Why are you so loud in here? I can here you from my room." He said as he entered your room. He saw you, hugging your knees, crying your eyes out with childish moans on your bed.

"Stop crying. Your voice is interrupting." He said as he walked near you, "Breathe normally, idiot."

You didn't comply, you couldn't. It was too much.

"Hey, stop crying." He placed his hand on your shoulders, you shivered and turned away from him. "Stop it."

The moaning continued, he shook you and spoke.

"Look at me- just breathe, okay?"

You looked at him,

"D-don't say that." You took hold of his shoulders and stood up, "Please. Take that back."

He gave you a confused look,

"Say anything!" You punched his chest lightly while crying, "Don't say that anymore! Don't leave me, please. Please."

You accidentally pushed him down, now you were on top of him, "Say something, please."

"What has gotten into you!?"

"I don't understand. I just don't."

"What!?"

"Why are you marrying someone else when I'm your soulmate!?" You took off your bracelet and showed him the words, "These were the words you told me when we first encountered."

He breathed,

"Then just now... You spoke the words visible behind my eyelids. Don't say those words, again." You clutched and cried unto his shirt. He placed his hand on your head,

"Shh... I won't say that anymore. Now stop crying."

"I can't bear to see you with someone that's not me in front of the altar. Please." You begged not letting go of his shirt,

"You won't even invite the priest to our wedding?" You looked at him, he sat you up and followed curt.

"Took you long enough to claim me as yours." He said, he took out a handkerchief and wiped your face with it, "You look cute when you're ugly."

You sniffed and hugged him, "Shut up. You were supposed to claim me, gentleman."
